Information

Wuma was bought in 2007 from the manufacturer Robinson and Cane in Cape Town. It is being sold by the owner who is 76 and has been advised to stop sailing.

Its specifications were similar to that of boats being built for Moorings and Sun Sail.

It has:

  • A four cabin,  two heads configuration,
  • Two Volvo Penta 30 hp diesel engines
  • Ray marine chart plotter and radar

Private and personal:

It was  delivered for the owner in Portugal in June 2007 by an experienced delivery crew.

For the next 17yrs its owner  and his family made memories while annually sailing the Mediterranean for 2-3months.

Wuma was never chartered:

It was used exclusively by the owner as skipper and his family. Consequently, it was never sailed in adverse weather conditions that stressed the rigging and sails. The sails, engines and equipment are all original and in excellent working order.

The cabins and heads were never excessively used. Mattresses were always covered by mattress protectors and are still in pristine condition.

The saloon and external seating are clean and firm, showing little wear and tear.

Fridge and freezer work well and has been reliable in all conditions.

Sail Area

It was wintered on the hard at professionally managed Marinas.

After every sailing season Wuma was lifted out of the water and secured on the hard for the winter.

Engines serviced after every season.

The owner serviced the engines after every season even though the servicing was not required. Engin oil , oil filters, and impellors were changed.

Regular anti-foal applied.

The hulls have been lightly sanded and painted with anti-foal before the boat was launched  for every new season.

Unique tinny tender

Wuma is equipped with a unique aluminum tender. Normal tenders do not last in the hot environment. The aluminum tender was built in Cape Town to provide a light durable alternative. For additional stability  two tubes are attached to the sides with straps. The tubes are removed and stored in the boat for the winter. After 17 yrs the tender is still in excellent condition.

The five horsepower Yamaha 2 s two stroke engine handles the tender comfortably with five passengers on board.

Ray Marine Chart plotter and radar

This equipment works well and is dependable. Charts for the whole of the med is available for the plotter.

Paper charts and Pilot books

A comprehensive set of paper charts for the Mediterranean , including pilot books are on board as well.

Solar panels, inverter, batteries, and shore power cables

Wuma has four solar panels that supply power to three new Bosch marine batteries. The batteries were replaced in 2023. The battery power  is converted to AC by an inverter  as required.

It also has three shore power cable with a total length of more than 30 m. adaptors for various shore power sources, are also provided.

Water

Wuma has two water tanks with a total capacity of 780 liters.

Two hose pipes are on board to tap water from the shore .

A water purifier unit supplies filtered water for drinking.

Other equipment

  • 8 life jackets,
  • 8-person life raft
  • Drogue chute sea anchor
  • Bosun seat for going up the mast
